Beautifully handcrafted by Magpie Pottery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, each one is unique. Available in cobalt blue, sage green or cream with a blue glaze, the dishes have a wonderful textural pattern pressed into the clay.
ARTIST PROFILE
The focus of this work by Magpie Pottery highlights a continuing interest in the textural/surface possibilities of clay, along with forms and imagerythat refer to my interest in the natural world and to my childhood spent in the Southern California ocean. I utilize both slabs and wheel-thrown forms to construct work which I hope is loose, lively, and visually interesting. It has always been important to me to let the clay speak, to allow for it's fluidity, sensuousness and spontaneity. Journeying through the ceramic cycle; from clay's incredible softness, to the fire of the kiln, and returning back again to stone, never ceases to produce a sense of awe and a feeling of immense gratitude that I get to spend my life participating in it.------------------Maggie Beyeler, Magpie Pottery
