This unique one of a kind piece is glazed a beautiful sage green with a mustard toned center strip with an imrint of Italian poetry and dragonflies.
The pigments used to color this piece are naturally derived and all glazes are foodsafe and free of lead. The piece is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. However, when using in a conventional oven, please put the piece into a cold oven and warm them both up together.
ARTIST PROFILE
The focus of this work by Magpie Pottery highlights a continuing interest in the textural/surface possibilities of clay, along with forms and imagerythat refer to my interest in the natural world and to my childhood spent in the Southern California ocean. I utilize both slabs and wheel-thrown forms to construct work which I hope is loose, lively, and visually interesting. It has always been important to me to let the clay speak, to allow for it's fluidity, sensuousness and spontaneity. Journeying through the ceramic cycle; from clay's incredible softness, to the fire of the kiln, and returning back again to stone, never ceases to produce a sense of awe and a feeling of immense gratitude that I get to spend my life participating in it.
